Synthetic voice

Sunday, Mar 29, 2009

speaker One way to approach the accessibility of all places, may be publishing articles that could be heard. Against this suggestion can do this in two ways:

  • record the content of articles, reading them with our voices and hanging out the audio file on the Web
  • or use an external service with synthetic voice.

Doing our own recordings would be great! As imposariem before the text sounds needed for what the public understood and approached with the necessary intensity. But this work requires a long time, good reading skills and speech and a good server space to store the audio files.

On the other hand we can use an external service that you provide a synthetic voice to read a play of our articles. In this case, you propose two of which are known in Catalan.

Loquendo [ http://tts.loquendo.com ]

One of the most good there, but the problem is that we must pay for good service. The interpretation of the text is quite successful to the point that has the ability to play emotional expressions. The tears, the laughter, the exclamation ... through written labels. You can make a test on the demo .

VozMe [ http://zozme.com ]

It is a portal that does not give us many benefits such as Loquendo, but instead is free and most do not even register it. The voices that interpret texts end up reading syllabic phrases without too intonations and therefore fail to appropriate intonations for phrases. In addition there are several extensions to use this service on our block, our navigator, our website, search ...

I decided I finished my proposal for this second charge. If nothing else, it is a step that I made to the possibility of access to others who have difficulty reading.
